MASTERCLASS: Looking Beyond Hybrid – 4 Steps to Shape a Future of Work Strategy to Future-Proof Your Organization

Kevin Empey, Managing Director, Work Matters & Author, Thrive in the Future of Work

"In this masterclass, Kevin will provide you with a template and a 4 step process to develop your Future of Work strategy. He will also provide you with a simple framework for developing Strategic Agility as the number one organizational and individual capability for thriving in the Future of Work. Transitioning to new flexible work models. Dealing with inflation and rising costs and a volatile talent landscape. DE&I. Sustainability. Culture & Performance. Well-Being. And much more. The short and medium term strategic and operational agenda for HR professionals and leaders has probably never been as full. And, as with the response to the pandemic, business leaders and employees are looking to HR for the answers. With such a full agenda, how does HR carve out the time to consider the longer term trends and ‘signals’ which are likely to impact the organization and its workforce in the future. But the evidence is clear. Those organisations who have anticipated future trends and conducted even small actions and experiments have continually outperformed competitors and adapted faster to disruption and opportunity, and with less effort and cost. They have also gained the reputation both externally and internally for being a progressive and forward thinking organization and employer. Developing a Future of Work strategy, to compliment your short and medium term people strategy and plans, has never been as important - and it is not as hard and time consuming as you might think. This masterclass will show you how it can be done with tools and case examples for you to apply to your own context and organization today. "

MASTERCLASS: Leadership - No More Heros

Adrian Furnham, Professor of Psychology at University College London, Author and Acedemic

"Leadership is most needed in times of change, uncertainty and crisis. We are living through those times. To support leaders in all spheres, this Masterclass provides a guide to the territory of leadership and its three domains: the strategic (head), the operational (hands) and the interpersonal (heart). It describes the tasks leaders have to achieve and explains the psychology of leadership based in personality. It argues strongly that complete leadership is the province of diverse teams of leaders made up of complementary differences. And now the best has just got better. The new edition shows how leadership has to change over time, describes how the most highly rated leaders achieve their goals and also elucidates the neuroscience of leadership to enhance understanding of leadership’s foundations. There is no one secret recipe for success as a leader. What this Masterclass provides is a framework to enable you to achieve success in your own way. "

Reimagining HR Business Partnering

Amin Sorour, Director of Human Resources, Egyptian Banking Institute

"The world has entered the new era of BANI “Brittle, Anxious, Non-Linear and Incomprehensible” bringing lots of challenges to the workplace, whilst demanding HR Leaders to roll their sleeves, transform and expand their contribution across different domains. Employee mental health and wellbeing is becoming an imperative, whilst organizational success and sustainable growth in such a hypercompetitive world is one of the most critical files where HR’s intervention is becoming increasingly important. Promoting diversity and collaborative intelligence through cross-functional collaboration, and personalization at work are becoming exceedingly important pillars for organizational success. HR business partnering is much more than just a job title or a responsibility; it’s a critical practice where HR leaders influence organizational leadership, strategy, sustainability, alignment of employees growth and wellbeing with their impact on organizational success. For HR to become a true strategic business partner, they need to put the business in the driver’s seat and move to the designer, the shaper and the futurist roles to expand their influence and impact on the overall success of their organization. Maximilian Specht, Senior HR Content Specialist at Personio

"How do you make time for what matters? Time has become an increasingly precious commodity, and that extends to every element of an organisation. In this keynote, we detail how moments of missed productivity can result in broken-down processes, a disengaged workforce or an overall lack of innovation. Then, we introduce ways to gain time back, and how HR’s role as a business partner can truly help strengthen your workforce. By making the most out of each moment you will be able to spend less time on processes and more time on people. "

MASTERCLASS: A Playbook for the Culture Agenda: Why, What, and How

Dave Ulrich, Professor of Business, Ross School of Business, University of Michigan

"Research shows that corporate directors, financial auditors, and business executives at Davos believe that “culture” matters and is an increasing challenge in today’s organizations, particularly with hybrid work when people may not be face-to-face. In the COVID world—when many employees worked at home often isolated from each other—cultural and social cohesion has declined, often leading to lower employee experience scores and increased mental health challenges. Everyone readily accepts that organization “culture” exists and has impact. Creating the right culture will enable organizations to flourish and win in the marketplace. With so many recent ideas about culture, join Dave Ulrich on this masterclass, where he will offer a simple playbook for today’s culture agenda to help business and HR leaders navigate the culture issue: Why culture matters, what culture means, and how to create or change a culture"

MASTERCLASS: Getting Real with Total Rewards and Performance Management

M. Tamra Chandler, Partner/Principal, EY

"While every organization’s approach to performance management should meet the needs of the enterprise based on its unique strategy, people, culture, leadership, and personality, every effective PM solution will support what we call the three common goals: 1./ Drive organization performance 2/ Develop people, and 3./ Reward equitably The hardest work is in having the courage to re-think and get real with rewards. This means abandoning outdated ideas that science has proven to not drive human motivation. This masterclass is for your, if you’re one of the 70 percent stuck in the old world of traditional performance management and rewards, fear not, because there is a path forward. During this session, Tamra is going to arm you with a few ideas and proven approaches that may help you break the log jam."

Closing Keynote: Get Results from Your HR Transformation

Dave Ulrich, Professor of Business, Ross School of Business, University of Michigan

"The crises of our day (global coronavirus pandemic, the ongoing War on Ukraine, global immigration, economic decline, rising inflation, political squabbles, and personal and emotional malaise) have accentuated the importance of human resource issues to help an organization succeed in the marketplace. Numerous HR innovations in programs, processes, practices, and digital apps have occurred under the rubric of HR transformation. We believe it is time to offer guidance on the extent to which organization effectiveness initiatives in talent, capability, and leadership deliver results to employees, strategies, customers, investors, and communities. During this session, professor Ulrich will shift the discussion of HR transformation from what is done to what should be done. Rather than randomly create innovative HR initiatives, business and HR leaders can receive rigorous guidance on where to focus for results. "

HR in the permanent disruption era - it's time for a new, global HR

Lisbeth Claus, Professor Emerita of Management and Global Human Resources, Willamette University, Visiting Professor Pforzheim University

"The promise of globalization is at a tipping point. Anno 2022, we are living in a disrupted and fragmented global world—very different from Friedman’s 2005 World is Flat—creating a new context of the world of work and the practice of HR. The practice of (global) HR seems to have reached an inflection point. Contributing factors are deglobalization, rising populism in many countries around the world, disruption of global supply chains, and the growing digitalization of HR practices using technology, data and analytics. During the past few decades, the body of knowledge in the fields of international, global and comparative human resource management has grown tremendously and constantly adapted to a rapidly changing global environment. This session explores the opportunities for (global) HR as we reach this important tipping point by looking at where we have been by sketching the context of global HR from circa 1980 to 2020; identifying the tipping point issues—rather than trends—facing (global)HR professionals today that can be used as opportunities; and focusing on the enduring values that underlie HR’s current raison d’être focusing on the activities that achieve sustainable outcomes. Standing on the shoulders of renowned HR management giants, I ground my reflections on where HR goes from here based on the expert views of these HR influencers. My purpose is to deconstruct the current complexity and allow HR practitioners to go forward—in the short and long term—despite an uncertain future. "
